What's changed in Version 1.0

  • First version, covering the API, checkout, dashboard and payouts.

What these terms cover

In short

Every business product: API, SDKs, checkout, dashboard and payouts.

These terms apply when a registered business uses KetaPay to take payments through escrow. The person accepting them confirms they can bind the business.

02

Verifying your business

In short

We check your company, directors and bank account before you go live.

Before you can take live payments we check your CAC registration, your directors and owners, and the bank account you'll be paid into. You must tell us within 14 days if any of these change.

03

Using the API and SDKs

In short

Test keys for the sandbox, live keys for real money. Keep them secret.

You get test keys (sk_test_) for the sandbox and live keys (sk_live_) for real payments. Anything done with your keys counts as done by you, so keep them on your server and rotate them if they leak.

We may limit request rates to protect the service. We'll give you 90 days' notice before a breaking change to a published API version.

04

Taking payments

In short

Your customer pays into escrow. Each payment follows the Escrow Agreement.

Your customer pays into escrow through our checkout or your own integration. Each payment is a deal between you and the customer under the Escrow Agreement, which your checkout must link to before payment.

05

In short

Released money reaches your bank within 1 working day.

When money is released to you we pay it, minus fees, to your verified bank account within 1 working day. You can see every payout and the deals in it on the dashboard.

06

Disputes and chargebacks

In short

We tell you, you send evidence, we decide. Chargebacks come off future payouts.

If a customer raises a dispute or their bank raises a chargeback, we'll tell you on the dashboard and by webhook. You have 7 days to send evidence. If a chargeback succeeds, we take the amount and any bank fee from your next payouts.

07

Reserves

In short

If disputes run high, we may hold back part of your payouts for a while.

If your dispute or chargeback rate goes above 1% over 30 days, we may hold up to 10% of your payouts for 90 days. We'll tell you before we start and explain why.

08

Fees and invoices

In short

Your price plan sets the fee. We send a monthly statement.

Fees are as set out in your price plan and are taken from each payout. We send a monthly statement with VAT where it applies.

Annex A: Data Processing Agreement

In short

For your customers' data, you're the controller and we're the processor.

When we process your customers' personal data to run payments for you, you're the data controller and we're your data processor under the NDPA. We only use that data on your instructions, keep it secure, tell you about a breach within 72 hours and delete it when the agreement ends, apart from records the law makes us keep.

Our current sub-processors are listed in section 4 of the Privacy Policy. We'll give you 30 days' notice before adding one.
